BodyTalk: Consciousness Support for the Complex Classroom

Classrooms today are busy places where learning, social-emotional, language, and safety needs all intersect with vastly diverse populations. We come together with the goal of producing learned and socially conscious individuals who can adapt to a quickly evolving world. It is no small task, and sometimes a huge challenge.

BodyTalk is a consciousness-based intervention modality that can offer innovative supports for today’s complex classroom. BodyTalk works directly with the ‘dynamic’ of an individual or classroom by addressing subtle obstacles to healthy functioning. As areas of imbalance are identified and restored, observable changes in group behaviour and communication tend to follow, enhancing overall well-being.

BodyTalk can serve as a complement to any school-based program or intervention, but can also stand alone as an efficient means of addressing classroom needs. It has great potential to gently address issues of behaviour, stress, unhealthy classroom or staff dynamics, and to assist teachers in maintaining wellness in their work.

BodyTalk intervention is always tailored to the needs of the specific situation. A program typically involves:

  • A 45-60 minute introduction of the service to Classroom Teacher(s), Administration and Student Services Team; and
  • A series of Sharing Circles with the classroom (45-60 minutes), each followed by BodyTalk sessions with the Classroom Teacher (45-60 minutes). (The number of sessions varies with need, but a minimum of 3 sessions is suggested.)

Jennifer Oborne Crolly is a highly skilled professional with over 25 years of combined experience as a Student Services Teacher, an Aboriginal Perspectives Consultant, and a Certified BodyTalk Practitioner. Fees are tailored to the specific intervention plan. Lesser fees will be negotiated when a school engages Jennifer on an ongoing basis of five or more days.
